No less than 22 folks have been arrested from New Alipore space in Kolkata for working a pretend name centre by impersonating as Amazon workers and duping a number of folks, police stated on Wednesday.
Appearing on a tip-off, a workforce of Anti-Rowdy part of Kolkata Police’s Detective Division performed a raid late Tuesday night time on the centre situated on Bankim Mukherjee Sarani in New Alipore.
The accused had been discovered working the decision centre with none legitimate paperwork, a police officer stated.
“Preliminary probe revealed that conversations had been made by the accused over Voice Over Web Protocol communication system, introducing themselves as workers of Amazon. They might inform the gullible callers that their present cash can be refunded,” he stated.

“The accused used softwares like Teamviewer and Anydesk to remotely entry and take management over goal computer systems and compelled the victims to pay in Australian {dollars},” the officer stated.
Many incriminating articles and paperwork had been seized from the decision centre, he added.
