Apology does not make anyone smaller, former Karnataka CM tells Thug Life actor

Slamming actor Kamal Haasan for ‘talking insensitively’ in regards to the Kannada language, veteran BJP chief B. S. Yediyurappa stated that he should respectfully apologise to Kannada and Kannadigas.

The previous Chief Minister stated, “Apologising does not make anyone smaller, nor does conceitedness make anybody higher.”

Actor-politician Haasan’s current assertion claiming that ‘Kannada was born out of Tamil’ throughout a promotional occasion for his upcoming movie Thug Life has sparked widespread outrage amongst pro-Kannada teams and cultural organisations.

Taking to X, Yediyurappa posted: ‘Kannada is fact, Kannada is everlasting’ isn’t just the rallying cry of Kannadigas, however it’s also the pledge of Kannadigas in the direction of mom Bhuvaneshwari, the deity of Kannada.

“Many senior linguistic specialists have demonstrated that Kannada didn’t originate from any particular language. It’s deeply regrettable and condemnable that artist Kamal Haasan, who’s neither a historian nor a linguistic professional, has spoken insensitively in regards to the Kannada language,” he added.

“His behaviour, which unnecessarily disrupts peace, concord, and unity, is just not proper. Within the fervour of expressing his opinion, he has damage the feelings of crores of Kannadigas, and he should respectfully apologise to Kannada and Kannadigas. Apologising doesn’t make anybody smaller, nor does conceitedness make anybody higher!” he stated.

Actor Kamal Haasan had declined to apologise, saying he believes in regulation and justice, and his love for Karnataka is genuine.

Raajkamal Movies Worldwide, Chennai, the producers of Kamal Haasan-starrer Thug Life, filed a petition earlier than the Karnataka Excessive Court docket on June 2, requesting safety to make sure the sleek launch of the movie within the State.
