Two teams of scholars clashed on Sunday afternoon within the Jawaharlal Nehru College (JNU) campus in Delhi, allegedly over meat being served within the hostel canteen on the event of Ram Navami.
Six college students have been injured within the incident that happened at Kaveri hostel at 3:30 within the afternoon.
The Jawaharlal Nehru College College students’ Union (JNUSU) has alleged that the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) members assaulted the mess secretary and stopped the workers from serving meat dishes within the hostel.
Countering it, the ABVP, the coed wing of the BJP’s ideological mentor Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, claimed that Members of left organizations tried to cease a Pooja from being organised within the hostel.
Either side have accused one another of pelting stones and injuring their members.

“There is no such thing as a violence as of now. A protest was held which is over. We’re all positioned right here with our staff. On the request of the college, now we have come right here. We are attempting to keep up peace,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Southwest) Manoj C was quoted saying by information company PTI.
The JNUSU has additional alleged that the ABVP used “muscle energy and goondaism” to create a ruckus.
“They have been forcing and attacking the mess committee to vary the dinner menu and exclude the same old non-vegetarian gadgets in it for all college students,” the coed physique stated in a press release.
“JNU and its hostels are supposed to be inclusive areas for all and never one specific part,” it added.
The ABVP has rejected the JNUSU’s allegations.
“Some widespread college students had organised a pooja and havan programme on the auspicious event of Ram Navami at 3:30 PM at Kaveri hostel.
“This pooja was joined by numerous widespread college students of JNU. The Leftists got here to object, impede and stop the pooja from occurring. They’ve created a false ruckus on the problem of ‘Proper to Meals’ (Non-Vegetarian Meals),” they stated.
A couple of college students are nonetheless protesting within the neighborhood of the campus.
