Muslim Man Arrested Under Anti-Conversion Law In Karnataka

A Muslim man has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody underneath the just lately promulgated Karnataka Safety of Proper to Freedom of Faith Act, for ‘changing a lady underneath the pretext of marrying her.’

In keeping with the Deputy Superintendent of Police of Bengaluru North Division, Vinayak Patil, the case was registered towards Syed Mueen on a criticism lodged by the mom of the lady.

A lacking case was registered on October 6 following a criticism by the 18-year-old lady’s mom the day gone by.

Following this, the person and the lady had been questioned on the police station on October 8.

The girl’s mom once more lodged a criticism on Thursday night time that her daughter had been transformed to a different faith by Syed Mueen on the pretext of marrying her.

Accordingly, a case has been registered underneath part 5 of the Karnataka Safety of Proper to Freedom of Faith Act and the accused has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody, Patil informed reporters.

In keeping with the complainant, the spiritual conversion happened at Penukonda in Andhra Pradesh, he added.

Underneath the Act, any aggrieved individual, his mother and father, brother, sister, or another individual, who is said to him by blood, marriage or adoption might lodge a First Info Report of such conversion, which contravenes the provisions of section-3. Whoever contravenes the provisions shall be punished with imprisonment, in keeping with the regulation.
