Scheldehof Residence / Max Dudler

The ensemble, designed by Max Dudler, harmoniously teams two buildings round a central inexperienced sq. that opens in the direction of the Scheldt. The structure takes up the motif of the staircase and realizes it in a number of dimensions. The 2 low-rise sections characteristic terraced, landscaped steps descending in the direction of the sq., evoking the picture of hanging gardens and forming an amphitheater-like area dealing with the river. The vertical construction rises inside the district, with the stepped design of the 80-meter tower creating an iconic inverted staircase silhouette. 

The façade parts manufactured from Dietfurt limestone wrap the buildings within the type of a unifying grid. This shiny, open framework integrates the outside areas of the flats. Every of the 300 flats features a loggia, balcony, or winter backyard. The mixed-use idea is enriched by 2,300 m² of workplace area and ground-floor outlets and eating places.

Positioned within the heart of the brand new district, the venture has a considerably extra public character: The buildings of the small ensemble are organized in a semi-open block interwoven with paths and plazas. The format displays its riverside place, with the Scheldt serving as the important thing reference level for each the district and Antwerp as a complete. The Scheldt connects all the important thing components of town, and its riverside boulevard is lined with Antwerp’s most iconic buildings, like pearls on a string.

The masterplan for the riverside website was developed by Studio Secchi-Viganò in collaboration with panorama architect BAS Smets.
