Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announces new chip unit with Rs 3,700 crore outlay


Union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Wednesday introduced a brand new semiconductor unit beneath the federal government’s India Semiconductor Mission at an investment of Rs 3,700 crore.

The plant, to return up in Uttar Pradesh and the sixth beneath the federal government’s flagship chip mission, will manufacture show chips for smartphones, cars and private computer systems. It is going to be designed for 20,000 wafers per 30 days, and 36 million chips per 30 days, the minister stated in a briefing.
