No less than 22 snakes of various species had been recovered from a girl passenger who arrived in Chennai from Malaysia on Friday. The serpents had been saved in a number of clear plastic containers in her checked-in baggage.
Visuals from the Chennai airport confirmed officers cautiously taking out the snakes utilizing an extended rod with a few of them slithering out of the packing containers on the ground.
The girl was arrested by the customs division on her arrival from Kuala Lumpur, officers stated.
A chameleon was additionally seized from her baggage, officers stated.
“On 28.04.23, a feminine pax who arrived from Kuala Lumpur by Flight No. AK13 was intercepted by Customs. On examination of her checked-in baggage, 22 Snakes of assorted species and a Chameleon had been discovered & seized below the Customs Act, 1962 r/w Wildlife Safety act, 1972,” tweeted Chennai Customs.
