12 Dead, Several Injured As Bus From Pune To Mumbai Falls Into Gorge: Police

The non-public bus was going from Pune to Mumbai when it fell into the gorge close to Shingroba temple.

Mumbai:

Not less than 12 individuals have been killed and 27 others injured after the bus they have been travelling in fell right into a gorge on the outdated Mumbai-Pune freeway in Raigad district of Maharashtra early on Saturday, police stated.

The non-public bus carrying members of a conventional music troupe was going from Pune to Mumbai when it fell into the gorge close to Shingroba temple on the freeway round 4:50 am, a senior police official stated.

The accident occurred below the Khopoli police station limits.

“The bus was carrying members of ‘Baji Prabhu Vaadak Group’ from Mumbai’s Goregaon. They have been returning to Goregaon after collaborating in an occasion in Pimpri Chinchwad space in Pune district. The bus had left the venue round 1 am on Saturday,” he stated, including that at the very least 12 individuals have been killed and 27 others injured within the accident.

The injured and people who died have been from Sion and Goregaon in Mumbai and Virar in neighbouring Palghar district, Raigad Superintendent of Police (SP) Somnath Gharge stated.

The injured have been admitted to the Khopoli Rural Hospital, he added.

Further SP Atul Zende stated the useless and the injured belonged to the age group of 18 to 25.

A group of native police and a trekker’s group are at present engaged within the rescue operation, police stated.

Khopoli city is positioned round 70 km from Mumbai.
