170 MLAs Left Congress To Join Other Parties To Contest Polls Between 2016-20: Report


New Delhi:

As many as 170 MLAs left the Congress to affix different events through the elections held between 2016-2020, whereas solely 18 BJP legislators switched events to contest the polls on this interval, in keeping with a report by ballot rights group Affiliation for Democratic Reforms (ADR).

The ADR, in a brand new report, mentioned between 2016-2020, 182 of the 405 re-contesting MLAs, who switched political events, joined the Bharatiya Janata Celebration (BJP), adopted by 38 who joined the Congress and 25 who joined the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS).

For the report, the Nationwide Election Watch and the ADR have analysed the self-sworn affidavits of 433 MPs and MLAs, who modified events and re-contested elections held within the final 5 years.
