Three vacationers from Sweden have been taken into custody for violating their visa provisions by attending a spiritual assembly in Dibrugarh district of Assam on Wednesday, the police mentioned.
The police had filed a case in opposition to the three for attending the assembly at Ghinai underneath Namrup police station with a vacationer visa, further superintendent of police Bitul Chetia mentioned.
The vacationers have been produced earlier than a court docket and located responsible underneath the Foreigners Act. It directed the deputy commissioner and the district police to rearrange for his or her deportation.
The three-day prayer assembly was organised by United Church Discussion board, a physique of various church buildings, with due permission from the district administration.
The vacationers will likely be despatched to Guwahati on Thursday and subsequently deported to Sweden, Mr Chetia mentioned.
