Chandigarh:
All 5 Punjab Rajya Sabha candidates, who had been elected unopposed on Thursday, secured their certificates on Friday.
The Aam Aadmi Social gathering (AAP) made a clear sweep in Punjab after profitable 92 of the 117 Meeting seats. The thumping victory meant that AAP may get all 5 Rajya Sabha seats for which biennial elections had been introduced final month.
Notably, March 21 was the final day of submitting nominations.
Among the many nominees had been former cricketer Harbhajan Singh, senior social gathering chief Raghav Chadha, IIT professor Sandeep Pathak, educationist Ashok Kumar Mittal, and industrialist Sanjeev Arora. As on date, all of them stand unopposed.
Based on Data and Public Relations Division, Punjab, 4 candidates acquired their certificates themselves, whereas former cricketer turned politician Harbhajan Singh’s certificates was acquired by his authorised consultant Gulzar Inder Chahal.
Earlier within the morning, the certificates was handed over to Sanjeev Arora by the Punjab Chief Electoral Officer-cum-Observer Dr S Karuna Raju and Returning Officer-cum-Secretary of Punjab Vidhan Sabha Surinder Pal.
Sandeep Kumar Pathak, accompanied by Cupboard Ministers Harpal Singh Cheema and Lal Chand Kataruchak, was given certificates by Secretary Surinder Pal.
Within the night, Raghav Chadha, consultant of Harbhajan Singh and Ashok Mittal acquired their certificates.
Talking to ANI after this victory, Mr Chadha mentioned, “All 5 candidates of AAP have been elected unopposed. We pray God to present us power to fulfill expectations of social gathering and lift the problems of Punjab.”
