By the way, Chief Minister Himanta Sarma had yesterday highlighted that there had been no untoward incident in Assam over the Waqf Modification Act and thanked the Muslim group. At a media briefing yesterday, the Chief Minister stated Assam had remained peaceable regardless of some protests in opposition to the regulation. He praised Assam Police too. “We had prior intelligence that yesterday, after Friday prayers, there may very well be large-scale protests associated to the Waqf Act. Assam Police labored extensively over the past 5 days. We spoke to minority leaders and ensured that there was no incident of violence in Assam,” he stated.
