Two personnel of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), together with an Assistant Commandant, have been killed in a Maoist assault at Narayanpur district in Chhattisgarh right now.

Sundarraj P, Inspector Common of Police for the Bastar vary, mentioned the assault came about round midday when a squad of ITBP’s forty fifth battalion was on an space domination train.

About 600 metres from the Kademata camp of the forty fifth battalion, the Maoists opened fireplace on the ITBP squad, Mr Sundarraj mentioned.

He added that Assistant Commandant Sudhakar Shinde, from Nanded district in Maharashtra, and Assistant Sub-Inspector Gurmukh Singh, who hailed from Raikot in Punjab, have been killed within the firing.

Mr Sundarraj additional mentioned that the Maoists took away an AK-47 rifle, two bulletproof jackets and a wi-fi set.

The Inspector Common mentioned reinforcements have been rushed to the spot and our bodies of the 2 ITBP personnel are being recovered.

Narayanpur, Rajnandgaon and Kondagaon are the three districts in Chhattisgarh the place ITBP personnel have been deployed for anti-Maoist operations. At present, eight battalions of the paramilitary power are deployed within the state.

The Bastar division, which contains the districts of Bastar, Dantewada, Bijapur, Narayanpur, Sukma, Kondagaon and Kanker, has been on the centre of the federal government’s battle towards the Maoists.

Earlier this 12 months, on April 4, 22 safety personnel have been killed in an ambush by Maoists on the Sukma-Bijapur border space.
