“Atrocious”: Congress Slams Centre Over Differential Covishield Pricing


Jairam Ramesh demanded the Centre and state governments pay the identical value for the COVID-19 vaccine.

Senior Congress chief Jairam Ramesh on Wednesday criticised the Union authorities over differential pricing of Covishield vaccine, saying the Centre getting it at Rs 150 per dose and states at Rs 400 isn’t any cooperative federalism.

He demanded the Centre and state governments pay the identical value for the COVID-19 vaccine.

He stated overcharging state governments for the anti-coronavirus pictures will bleed dry their already pressured funds.

“The Central authorities will proceed to pay Rs 150 per dose for Covishield. State governments will now be charged Rs 400 a dose. This isn’t cooperative federalism. It will bleed dry the already reeling state funds. Atrocious,” he stated on Twitter.

“We demand One Nation, One Value for Centre and State governments,” he stated.

Serum Institute of India (SII), the world’s largest vaccine-maker, on Wednesday introduced a value of Rs 600 per dose for COVID vaccine provides to personal hospitals and Rs 400 per dose to state governments.

In an announcement posted on its Twitter deal with, SII stated it can deal with the restricted capability by scaling up the vaccine manufacturing over the following two months.
