Attorney General Nod To Case Against YouTuber For Remarks Against Top Court, Judges

Legal professional Common KK Venugopal on Tuesday agreed to provoke felony contempt proceedings in opposition to YouTuber Ajeet Bharti for his alleged “scurrilous” remarks in considered one of his movies in opposition to the Supreme Court docket and its judges.

“I discover that the contents of the video which has been watched by about 1.7 lakh viewers are vituperative, gross and extremely derogatory to the Supreme Court docket of India and the judiciary as a complete being clearly meant to denigrate the courts.

“The allegations made by Mr Ajeet Bharti in opposition to the Supreme Court docket are, amongst different issues, of bribery, favouritism and abuse of energy,” the highest legislation officer stated in his letter of consent.

Kritika Singh, a lawyer, had written to KK Venugopal looking for the grant of consent underneath Part 15 of the Contempt of Courts Act, a situation precedent for initiating a felony contempt by an individual, apart from the courtroom.

She had referred to some alleged objectionable feedback made by Ajeet Bharti in opposition to the highest courtroom and its judges in his video of June 24 this 12 months.
