West Bengal Finance Minister Amit Mitra on Sunday accused Union Dwelling Minister Amit Shah of offering misinformation about disbursement of funds by the centre to the state throughout a political rally and challenged him for a debate.
He stated the state authorities had obtained Rs 1.13 lakh crore from the centre within the final six years, which is “nothing greater than one-third of what the Union minister claimed”.
Mr Shah, in his latest go to to the poll-bound West Bengal, had reportedly stated the centre supplied Rs 3.59 lakh crore to the state.
“He has given flawed, deceptive and politically-motivated info. The centre, as part of the federal construction, collects taxes from states and shares. We had obtained solely Rs 1.13 lakh crore within the final 6 years (FY14 to FY20),” Mr Mitra informed reporters.
Referring to his estimate, Mr Mitra stated the centre might need collected round Rs 5 lakh crore in these years within the type of direct and oblique taxes from West Bengal and despatched solely Rs 1.13 lakh crore by way of central schemes.
Mr Mitra stated the West Bengal authorities had spent Rs 3.1 lakh crore in these six years in numerous initiatives, that are totally sponsored by the state, other than expenditures like wage, pension and different administrative bills.
