BJP’s Moradabad candidate Sarvesh Singh, a five-time MLA and a one-time MP, died a day after his Uttar Pradesh constituency went to polls in part one of many common elections. He was 72.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath termed the loss of life of the chief an “irreparable loss” for the BJP.
“I’m deeply saddened by the premature demise of BJP candidate from Moradabad Lok Sabha seat and former MP Kunwar Sarvesh Singh ji. He remained devoted to public service and social service until his final breath. His demise is an irreparable loss for the occasion. I pray to God to offer power to his household to bear this deep grief. Om Shanti!” PM Modi posted on X.
“I’m shocked to study of the demise of our Moradabad candidate and former MP, Kunwar Sarvesh Kumar Singh-ji. That is an irreparable loss for the BJP Parivaar. On this hour of grief, my ideas and prayers exit to his relations and family members. I pray that Prabhu Shri Ram grants everlasting peace to the departed soul whereas giving his household the power and forbearance to bear this loss. Om Shanti!” Yogi Adityanath posted on X.
Moradabad, one of many 80 constituencies in Western UP, was gained by him in 2014 however misplaced to Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Celebration’s ST Hasan within the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
The seat contains 5 Vidhan Sabha (legislative meeting) segments: Barhapur; Kanth; Thakurdwara; Moradabad Rural; and Moradabad Nagar area.
This time Ruchi Veera has been fielded by the opposition’s INDIA bloc on the Samajwadi Celebration ticket.
Sarvesh Kumar is survived by his spouse Sadhna Singh, a son and a daughter.
