Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien on Thursday wrote to Chairman, Parliamentary Standing Committee on Residence, for dialogue regarding app ‘Tek Fog’ saying “utilization of manipulative applied sciences is a extreme hazard to nationwide and residents’ safety”.

“As a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Residence Affairs, below your Chairmanship, I write to carry to your speedy consideration a matter that has severe ramifications and will jeopardize nationwide safety. On 6 January 2022, media outlet The Wire reported on the existence of a social media manipulator and hijacker software program software by the title of ‘Tek Fog’,” Derek O’Brien mentioned in his letter.

The parliamentary Standing Committee on House is headed by Congress MP Anand Sharma.

The TMC MP mentioned that “the existence and utilization of manipulative applied sciences like Tek Fog is a extreme hazard to nationwide and residents’ safety, a violation of our elementary rights to privateness and free speech, an exploitation of public discourse, and a defilement of the nation’s democracy and safety”.
