China fines online education firms for misleading consumers


Beijing: China‘s market regulator mentioned on Monday it has fined online education startups Yuanfudao and Zuoyebang 2.5 million yuan ($388,754) every for deceptive customers.

Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.-backed on-line tutor Zuoyebang was discovered to be utilizing false promoting whereas Tencent Holdings Ltd.-backed schooling know-how agency Yuanfudao was discovered to be utilizing deceptive pricing, the regulator mentioned in a press release.

Yuanfudao mentioned in a press release that it has carried out a self-review on its merchandise and has “rectified associated deceptive tags”. Zuoyebang mentioned it “sincerely accepted the executive penalty”.
