Congress MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary died of a coronary heart assault throughout Bharat Jodo Yatra in Punjab this morning. He was 76.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled Mr Chaudhary’s demise, saying “he shall be remembered for his efforts to serve the folks of Punjab.”

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge stated Mr Chaudhary’s demise is a “nice blow to the occasion and organisation”.

Mr Chaudhary had received the Lok Sabha elections twice – first in 2014 and later in 2019. His son Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary is a Congress MLA from Phillaur meeting constituency in Punjab.
