A brief cab journey was a nightmare for a Gurugram girl and her son after the cab driver held them at gunpoint and compelled her to switch Rs 55,000 into his account. The cab driver then made the mom and son exit the car and sped away.
The driving force, related to cab aggregator BluSmart, has been arrested. The aggregator has stated it was “disturbed” by the incident, apologised to the passenger and her household and warranted that it will strengthen security protocols additional.
The incident occurred Friday when the lady and her son took a BluSmart cab from Airia Mall in Gurgaon to her residence in Sector 86. Close to Sector 83, the motive force stopped the cab and pointed a gun at her. He then pressured her to switch Rs 55,000 to his account by a UPI app. He stored her bag too, requested them to get out of the automobile and drove away.
Police yesterday stated that they’d arrested the cab driver. Sonu Singh is from Uttar Pradesh and lived as a tenant in Gurugram. He has been remanded in police custody for a day, “The restoration (of cash) might be made after interrogating the accused,” a police officer stated.
BluSmart has stated in an announcement that it was “deeply saddened and disturbed” by the incident.

The cab aggregator stated BluSmart’s “exhaustive documentation” concerning the driver and “swift actions” of the staff had helped police arrest him inside 24 hours.
