Four New Faces From Karnataka Inducted Into PM Modi’s Ministry

With Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inducting 4 new faces from Karnataka into his Ministry, and Chemical substances & Fertilizers Minister DV Sadanda Gowda resigning forward of the reshuffle, the state’s illustration within the Union Council of Ministers now stands at six.

Udupi-Chikmagalur MP Shobha Karandlaje, A Narayanaswamy (Chitradurga), Bhagwanth Khuba (Bidar) and Rajya Sabha member from the state Rajeev Chandrasekhar, have been on Wednesday inducted as Ministers of State within the Modi authorities.

Earlier within the day, Sadanada Gowda, a MP from Bengaluru North, who held the Chemical substances & Fertilizers portfolio, resigned as a part of the rejig.

This leaves six ministers from Karnataka within the Union Council of Ministers, the opposite two being, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who’s member of Rajya Sabha from the state and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Coal and Mines Pralhad Joshi, who’s a MP from Dharwad constituency.

Ms Karandlaje, who was inducted on Wednesday, belongs to the politically influential Vokkaliga group in southern Karnataka, to which Sadananda Gowda additionally belongs.
