Goans Trying to ‘Smuggle in’ People from Other States amid Covid-19 Crisis, Says Chief Minister

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday mentioned some locals had been making an attempt to “smuggle in” folks from neighbouring states, in violation of directives for the prevention of Covid-19 unfold, and warned of strict motion in opposition to them.

People arriving within the state have to be examined for Covid-19 they usually have to stay quarantined as per the rules, Sawant mentioned in a video message.

“We have noticed that some Goans are trying to smuggle in people from the neighbouring states using alternate routes. This is a punishable offence under the National Disaster Management Act,” the chief minister mentioned.

The state authorities will take strict motion in opposition to these caught in such unlawful actions, he mentioned.

Goa has been declared a ‘inexperienced zone’ because it has no energetic coronavirus case.

Sawant mentioned almost 2,000 Goans who had been stranded overseas have returned to the coastal state after finishing the due formalities.
