Govt approves financial support for 23 companies to develop chipsets: MoS IT – The Economic Times

The federal government has authorised monetary help for 23 corporations to develop chipsets underneath the design-linked incentive scheme, Parliament was knowledgeable on Wednesday.

Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Jitin Prasada, in a written reply to Lok Sabha, stated that 10 corporations have raised enterprise capital (VC) funding for scaling up their design prototypes for commercialisation, and 6 corporations have efficiently taped out their prototype designs at superior and mature know-how nodes of assorted semiconductor foundries.

“72 home corporations have been authorised underneath the DLI Scheme for entry to state-of-the-art Digital Design Automation (EDA) instruments. These corporations are at completely different levels of growing semiconductor designs for numerous purposes. Out of those, 23 corporations have additionally been authorised for monetary help for growing SoCs for surveillance cameras, vitality meters, microprocessor IPs, networking purposes and so on,” the minister stated.

He stated that the DLI scheme gives monetary incentives of as much as 50% of eligible prices, with a ceiling of Rs 15 crore per software for design prototyping, scaling-up and quantity manufacturing.

“To allow corporations to deploy and commercialise their Mental Property (IP) cores, chips, and System-on-Chip (SoC) options, the scheme gives monetary incentives starting from 6 to 4% of web gross sales turnover, as much as Rs 30 crore per software over 5 years,” Prasada stated.
