Casa Gruta, situated within the Sisal neighborhood of Valladolid, Yucatán, is an architectural mission designed by architects Salvador Román Hernández and Adela Mortera Villarreal. This area goals to discover notion, scale, and materiality by a plastic and architectural strategy that evokes the feeling of a refuge, paying homage to a cave. The work invitations reflection on the fleeting nature of time and the connection between the ephemeral and the everlasting by the usage of gentle and shadow, and the interplay between new buildings and pre-existing ones.




The home is conceived as a up to date liveable sculpture, impressed by the attribute geological formations of the Yucatán Peninsula, comparable to caves, grottoes, and cenotes.
