Gun misfire reported at Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Kerala; police launch inquiry

A gun misfire occurred on the Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, on Monday (July 14, 2025), sparking panic within the high-security zone. Nobody was injured within the accident.

Official sources stated the unintentional discharge occurred contained in the temple’s bell of arms when a grade sub-inspector was supposedly cleansing his weapon in the course of the morning obligation changeover. The bullet hit the ground because the weapon was pointed downward.

The Metropolis Police have launched an inside inquiry to find out how the misfire occurred and to make sure that security protocols are strictly adopted. It’s suspected that the weapon might have been loaded in the course of the earlier shift.

Whereas the sound of the gunshot triggered non permanent panic among the many personnel close by, the state of affairs was introduced beneath management shortly.

Normalcy was quickly restored with none disruption to temple actions, sources stated.
