Jeerawan, which is known in Indore, has been prohibited in hand baggage, stated an official.

The choice by aviation authorities so as to add ‘jeerawan’, a spice usually sprinkled on poha, salads and many others, to the checklist of things prohibited in hand baggage on flights evoked combined responses from air passengers at Indore’s Devi Ahilyabai Holkar airport on Monday, with some terming it absurd.
Jeerawan, which accommodates purple chillies and a number of other different substances and is known in Indore, has been prohibited in hand baggage as per security norms laid down by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Safety (BSCA), a senior airport official instructed PTI.
A showcase saved on the airport to tell folks about prohibited objects accommodates a packet of jeerawan together with a pistol, knife, scissor, hammer and screwdriver.
Indore-based entrepreneur Sameer Sharma, a frequent air traveller, stated, “I reached Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Worldwide Airport two days in the past to journey to Jammu and was shocked to see a packet of jeerawan within the showcase. That is completely absurd. Jeerawan can’t be saved within the class of sizzling spices like purple chillies.”
As per consultants, jeerawan is comprised of cumin, coriander, fennel, clove, cinnamon, purple chilli, asafoetida, turmeric, salt, dried mango and many others. Aside from being a style enhancer, it is usually identified to enhance digestion and hold the physique heat throughout winter.
