Justice Sanjiv Khanna has been apointed the following Chief Justice of India by President of India Droupadi Murmu after Chief Justice DY Chandrachud named him his successor. The oath ceremony might be on November 11 – a day after Justice Chandrachud retires.
Union Legislation Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal made the announcement on X this night.

Justice Khanna was elevated to the Supreme Court docket in 2019 from the Delhi Excessive Court docket. He is because of retire on Could 13, 2025.
