A private secretary to a Lok Sabha MP misplaced over Rs 1 lakh to fraudsters after calling a pretend helpline quantity to inquire about his prepare ticket, police stated on Tuesday. The incident occurred on January 4 wherein the sufferer, a residing in Lutyen’s Delhi, turned a goal of cyber fraud whereas making an attempt to guide a prepare ticket for his daughter and misplaced Rs 1,28,202 lakh, they stated.
In keeping with the police, the sufferer was making an attempt to guide a prepare ticket from Chennai to Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu, by means of a cellular software.
In his grievance, the sufferer claimed that cost obtained deducted however he didn’t obtain the ticket. After the transaction he looked for a helpline quantity on-line on his cellular and referred to as for inquiry, they stated.
Three fraudulent transactions have been achieved by the fraudsters from his financial institution accounts subsequently, the police stated.
Realising that he had been defrauded, he instantly filed a web-based grievance by means of the Nationwide Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP). The grievance was then forwarded to the Cyber Police Station in New Delhi for additional investigation, they stated.
On January 5, the grievance was formally offered in writing by him, and an inquiry was carried out. After preliminary investigation, the Cyber Police Station filed an FIR and an investigation was launched, they stated.
