Par panel to discuss anti-competitive practices by big tech firms


New Delhi: The Standing Committee on Finance has known as a gathering on Thursday to debate points regarding anti-competitive practices by big tech corporations like Google, Facebook and Twitter. Within the day-long assembly, as per the schedule posted on the Lok Sabha web site, the parliamentary panel shall be listening to views of hospitality, eating places and journey brokers associations on the topic ‘Anti-Aggressive Practices by Huge-tech corporations’.

The panel, headed by former minister of state for finance Jayant Sinha, may even hear the views of the Confederation of All India Merchants (CAIT) on the topic.

Within the third session, the representatives of digital media and newspaper associations will depose earlier than the panel.

The agenda papers for the sitting have already been mailed to the members and the identical have been uploaded on members portal, it added.

Earlier this yr, the panel had held a
series of meeting on the topic with numerous stakeholders, together with the regulator Competitors Fee of India (CCI), Ministry of Company Affairs and Ministry of Electronics and Info Expertise.

Representatives of Google, Amazon, Fb, Twitter and others too have been summoned by the panel.
