In line with an ETimes report, the Kannada actor-director had a large coronary heart assault, whereas he was praying within the puja room. Though he was rushed to the hospital, he couldn’t be revived.
He’s survived by his spouse Radhamma and two sons. One in all his sons Venkat Bharadhwaj is a filmmaker. The late actor had labored on two of his son’s movies, the 2015 film ‘A Day Within the Metropolis’ and the 2016 household thriller ‘Bablusha’.
Some celebs from Sandalwood took to social media to mourn the late veteran. Actor-director Raghuram penned a heartfelt tribute to the actor (within the native language) on Twitter.

Shivashankar was a true-blue Jack of all trades. Aside from being a prolific actor, he was also an acclaimed director as well as a noted lyricist. He made his acting debut with the 1962 film ‘Rathna Manjari’. He turned director with the 1967 film ‘Padavaidhara’. The movie had a stellar solid comprising TN Balakrishna, Udaykumar, Kalpana, and so on. A few of his notable movies are ‘Hoysala’, ‘Mahdiya Mane’, ‘Namma Ooru’ and so on.He was a recipient of the Karnataka Rajyotsava Award for his contribution to Sandalwood. Most of the songs he penned comparable to ‘Sirivantanaadaroo Kannada Naadelle Mereve Bhikshukanaadaroo Kannada Naadelle Madive’, Kannadada Ravi Moodi Banda’ and so on have gone on to be all-time classics in Karnataka. Most of his songs spoke about his love for Karnataka and its tradition.
