The Tripura Police allegedly stopped the IPAC crew from leaving their lodge.

A crew from ballot strategist Prashant Kishor’s IPAC (Indian Political Motion Committee) has allegedly been detained in Tripura, the place they went to do some groundwork for Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress. The Tripura police have been tenting on the lodge foyer since morning and are usually not permitting them to depart the premises, sources within the IPAC instructed NDTV.
The 22 IPAC staff have been in Agartala to evaluate the political scenario and potential help base for the Trinamool Congress. Election within the BJP-ruled state is due in 2023.
The information of the detention coincided with Ms Banerjee’s arrival in New Delhi this night. Her acknowledged agenda: Stitching up opposition unity in opposition to the BJP forward of the 2024 nationwide elections, during which Prashant Kishor — her ballot strategist within the meeting elections — is outwardly taking part in a key position.
Senior Trinamool Congress chief and Ms Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee tweeted:

This morning, the police allegedly stopped crew from leaving their lodge, saying they’ve violated Covid norms. Sources within the IPAC stated the crew had all the mandatory Covid-related papers.
The police stated the questioning of the crew on the lodge was a part of routine check-up.
“The outsiders– round 22 individuals—have been roaming round in numerous locations. Since Covid restrictions are in place, we’re inquiring to confirm the explanations behind their arrival and keep within the metropolis. All of them underwent Covid exams on Monday, the reviews are awaited,” Manik Das,
Superintendent of Police, West Tripura, was quoted as saying by information company Press Belief of India.
Trinamool’s state unit chief Ashish Lal Singha referred to as it an “assault on democracy”.
“Being a resident of Tripura, I’m shocked. It’s not Tripura’s tradition. The BJP has panicked following the overwhelming response and help to the TMC as a result of misrule of the BJP led authorities in Tripura,” PTI quoted him as saying.
