The Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday searched the workplaces of George Soros‘ basis, the Open Soros Foundation, and non-governmental organisations linked to the OSF, together with Amnesty. Officers stated the searches are linked to an ongoing FEMA, or Overseas Trade Administration Act, case.
Premised of former staff of Amnesty Worldwide (whose India operations shut down in December 2020, after the government froze its bank accounts alleging unlawful overseas funding) had been searched, as had been these of present staff of Human Rights Watch, or HRW.
