Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut, among the many most vociferous backers of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray amid a revolt within the social gathering, has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Mumbai for questioning tomorrow in a case of alleged cash laundering.
Group Thackeray has been saying that the mutiny led by Eknath Shinde is a results of “strain of ED, CBI and different central companies”.
The ED had in April connected Sanjay Raut’s properties in reference to the Rs 1,034-crore Patra Chawl land scam case. Mr Raut had mentioned then, “I’m not the one who will get scared. Seize my property, shoot me, or ship me to jail, Sanjay Raut is Balasaheb Thackeray’s follower and a Shiv Sainik.”
Two months on, as a number of Shiv Sena MLAs rebelled and sought a breakup of the Sena’s alliance with the Congress and Nationalist Congress Celebration (NCP), Mr Raut accused them of appearing on the instructions of Centre’s ruling BJP. The rebels have insisted that the Sena ought to return to its “pure” alliance with the BJP, citing a shared Hindutva ideology.
Mr Raut, a member of the Rajya Sabha, mentioned final week that the ED beneath the central authorities was misused towards the Sena. “Even we now have ED strain however we’ll proceed to face with Uddhav Thackeray,” he instructed reporters final Thursday.
