Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has denied any involvement within the killing.

The US on Friday declassified an explosive intelligence report that discovered that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman authorised the killing of Jamal Khashoggi, a US-based author whose demise provoked outrage.
In {a partially} redacted two-year-old report launched by President Joe Biden’s administration, US intelligence concluded that the prince “authorised an operation in Istanbul, Turkey to seize or kill Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.”
“Since 2017, the crown prince has had absolute management of the dominion’s safety and intelligence operations, making it extremely unlikely that Saudi officers would have carried out an operation of this nature with out the crown prince’s authorization,” it mentioned.
The report named a 15-member Saudi squad that went to Istanbul and mentioned it had “excessive confidence” that they participated within the killing, though it mentioned it was unclear in the event that they knew the operation would lead to Khashoggi’s demise.
“The crown prince views Khashoggi as a risk to the dominion and broadly supported utilizing violent measures if essential to silence him,” it mentioned.
Khashoggi, who wrote critically of the prince in The Washington Publish, was lured to the Saudi consulate in Istanbul to finish marriage paperwork.
