The 948-foot MS Dali on Tuesday collided with one of many pillars of the Baltimore bridge.
The ship that induced the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore early on Tuesday was additionally concerned in an accident within the port of Antwerp, Belgium, in 2016.
The Antwerp port authorities mentioned the container ship Dali hit a quay on July 11, 2016, because it tried to exit the North Sea container terminal.
The port authority may give no particulars about the reason for the accident, however mentioned the ship had remained on the dock for repairs for a while after the incident.
“As a common rule, these accidents are investigated and ships are solely allowed to go away after consultants have decided it’s secure for them to take action,” a spokesperson for the Antwerp port instructed Reuters.
The Belgian nautical committee, which investigates such incidents, didn’t instantly reply to a request for remark.
