The Supreme Court docket on Wednesday put aside a Madras Excessive Court docket order of a CBI probe into allegations of corruption in opposition to then Chief Minister and AIADMK chief Edappadi Ok Palaniswami in awarding contracts within the state highways division.
A bench comprising Chief Justice N V Ramana and Justices Krishna Murari and Hima Kohli requested the excessive courtroom to determine the criticism in opposition to Palaniswami with out being influenced by earlier observations or orders handed on this matter.
The excessive courtroom, after being attentive to the plea of DMK chief R S Bharathi in opposition to Palaniswami, had in October 2018 handed the order transferring the probe on his criticism of tender irregularities to CBI for “truthful, affordable and clear probe”.

Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, showing for the DMK chief, stated he didn’t need a CBI probe and would reasonably search an neutral investigation.

Mr Bharathi had filed the petition within the excessive courtroom accusing Mr Palaniswami of misusing his official place to allot numerous highway development tasks to corporations owned by his family members and others.
Mr Palaniswami had contended the excessive courtroom wrongly handed the order with out issuing him a discover and offering him a possibility to defend himself.
The DMK chief had sought a path to the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) to register a case in opposition to the previous chief minister. The DVAC had given a clear chit to Mr Palaniswami.
