Lecturers Day 2020: In India, Lecturers’ Day is noticed on September 5, the start anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, an exemplary instructor and the second president of India. Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was a thinker, scholar and politician who devoted his life in the direction of training and the youth of the nation.  

“As an alternative of celebrating my birthday, it might be my proud privilege if September 5 is noticed as Lecturers’ Day,” Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan had mentioned, and the custom of celebrating Lecturers’ Day began from 1962 in India, in honour Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan and all of the academics.

  1. Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was born on September 5, 1888, in a center class household in Thiruthani, Tamil Nadu
  2. He was an impressive scholar and studied philosophy at Christian School, Madras
  3. Dr Radhakrishnan taught at varied schools – from College of Mysore to College of Calcutta
  4. He was appointed because the Vice-Chancellor of Andhra College, Delhi College in addition to Banaras Hindu College
  5. Dr Radhakrishnan was the primary Indian to carry a chair on the College of Oxford – the Spalding Professor of Jap Faith and Ethics (1936-1952)
  6. In 1930, he was appointed Haskell lecturer in Comparative Faith on the College of Chicago
  7. Dr Radhakrishnan led the Indian delegation to the United Nations Academic, Scientific and Cultural Group (UNESCO) and was elected chairman of UNESCO’s govt board in 1948
  8. Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was awarded the Bharat Ratna, the best civilian honour within the nation in 1954
  9. His works embrace Indian Philosophy, (1923-27), The Philosophy of the Upanishads (1924), An Idealist View of Life (1932), Jap Religions and Western Thought (1939), and East and West: Some Reflections (1955)
  10. Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan died on April 16, 1975 in Chennai
