That’s Not Paint On Jeans. It’s Gold Being Smuggled In Kerala


Customs officers discovered gold paste hidden between double-layered pants.

Officers on the Kannur airport in Kerala seized 302 grams of gold on Monday morning. The Air Intelligence Unit and the Customs division seized gold value Rs 14 lakh on the airport from a passenger who had managed to cover the gold in a quite novel method. In line with a tweet by the information company ANI, opposite to the standard jewelry or biscuit types that the dear steel is smuggled in, this time round, it was in paste kind. The accused was trying to smuggle the gold as a paste that was hidden between the layers of the pair of pants that the passenger was carrying. 

The picture shared by the information company options the double-layered pants in query that has been reduce as much as reveal the stated gold paste. The picture reveals the stark-yellow, gold paste unfold all alongside the size of the pants. Together with the picture, ANI quoted the Customs Preventive Unit in Kochi as saying, “Air Intelligence Unit at Kannur airport has seized 302 grams of gold within the type of a really skinny paste, hid inside the double-layered pants worn by a passenger.”

Social media customers have been greatly surprised by the sheer ingenuity showcased by the alleged smuggler within the case. “What a method!” stated one shocked person.

“Once I develop up I need to be a customs officer in Kerala,” joked one other person.

“Like the entire pant will not go off once they move the steel detector. Gold is a steel, passing by any steel detector in any kind will make it go off!” one person stated, arguing the logic behind such a transfer.

Such weird gold smuggling methods aren’t new to the nation. Not too long ago, in Amritsar, a person who had arrived from Sharjah was arrested on the airport for allegedly attempting to smuggle in 1,894 grams of gold paste by hiding it in his underwear. 

Through the search, officers discovered 1,894 grams of gold within the type of a paste in his underwear. On extraction, 1,600 grams of gold value ₹ 78 lakh was recovered, an announcement by the Customs division had revealed.
