Bengaluru: Chinese short-video app TikTok mentioned it’s within the strategy of complying with the federal government order that bans 59 Chinese apps, together with theirs however added that it doesn’t share any Indian consumer’s data with the Chinese authorities.

It added that it has been invited to satisfy authorities officers to reply and submit clarifications.

“TikTok continues to comply with all data privacy and security requirements under Indian law and has not shared any information of our users in India with any foreign government, including the Chinese government,” mentioned Nikhil Gandhi, Head of TikTok India.

On Monday, the federal government banned 59 Chinese mobile applications, together with high social media platforms reminiscent of TikTok, Helo, and WeChat, to counter the menace posed by these functions to the nation’s “sovereignty and security,” it mentioned in a press launch.

ByteDance’s two standard apps TikTok and Helo have been taken down from Google and Apple app shops.
