A ruling TMC MLA in West Bengal filed a police grievance alleging that he was attacked by “goons” related to a toll plaza run by a central company in Murshidabad district on Sunday for protesting overcharging of autos.
Authorities of the toll plaza at Farakka, nevertheless, dismissed the allegation that native MLA Monirul Islam was attacked, and claimed that commoners protested after he refused to pay toll tax and his associates created a ruckus.
“I’ve been listening to complaints of overcharging by the toll plaza positioned close to the West Bengal-Jharkhand inter-state border. Once I went there to examine for myself, some goons related to the toll plaza administration reached the spot and charged in direction of my automobile throughout an argument and brickbats have been hurled at us. Nevertheless, I used to be not bodily harmed because the police and locals escorted me out,” he advised reporters.
The toll plaza administration, nevertheless, stated that the legislator’s behaviour had infuriated the locals, who protested towards it and he needed to depart the spot.
“He refused to pay toll tax for his automobile and his companions created a ruckus,” they stated, including there was no assault on the MLA.
An officer of Farakka police station stated that commotion began after Mr Islam reached the spot with round 10 folks and brickbats have been hurled subsequently. Mr Islam was escorted out of the realm and the scenario is now below management, he added.
