Trump administration backs off Nvidia’s H20 chip crackdown after Mar-a-Lago dinner: Report


The Trump administration has reversed course on plans to limit exports of Nvidia‘s H20 synthetic intelligence chips to China after CEO Jensen Huang attended a Mar-a-Lago dinner final week, NPR reported on Wednesday.

The deliberate American export controls on the chips – essentially the most superior AI processor legally accessible in China underneath U.S. export controls – had been within the works for months, NPR reported, citing two sources, and have been able to be applied as quickly as this week.

The change in plans got here after Nvidia promised the Trump administration new U.S. investments in AI knowledge facilities, the NPR report mentioned.
