Police have lodged a case towards a Karnataka man for allegedly kidnapping a 19-year-old lady after befriending her, hiding his spiritual id, police mentioned on Thursday.
A lacking report was lodged by the girl’s father on January 5 after she didn’t return house from faculty, Station Home Officer, Chiluatal police station, Neeraj Kumar Rai mentioned.
“Throughout an investigation and with the assistance of name data of the girl’s cell phone, it was discovered that she used to regularly speak to the person whose title within the Truecaller app was talked about as Mehboob and the placement as Karnataka,” he mentioned.
A case was lodged towards the person on January 11, following which a three-member police group was despatched to Karnataka to hint the person and the kidnapped lady, Mr Rai mentioned.
On the idea of those inputs, the girl’s father lodged an FIR towards the person and accused him of allegedly kidnapping his daughter and hiding his spiritual id, he mentioned.
The lady’s father, who’s a retired Military man, has talked about within the FIR that final 12 months the person had befriended his daughter via social media and wooed her on the pretext of offering a job.
Police mentioned that all the pieces could be clear as soon as the accused and the kidnapped lady are traced.
The case was lodged underneath sections 366 (kidnapping, abduction or inducing lady to compel her into marriage ) and 363 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code, in addition to the brand new anti-conversion regulation of the Uttar Pradesh authorities, the SHO mentioned.
The lately promulgated Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Illegal Conversion of Faith Ordinance, 2020, nullifies marriages if they’re carried out for the only objective of spiritual conversion.
