West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday stated the Waqf (Modification) Act won’t be carried out within the state.
Addressing a programme of the Jain neighborhood in Kolkata, Ms Banerjee stated she’s going to shield the minority folks and their property.
“I do know you might be aggrieved due to the enactment of the Waqf Act. Have religion, nothing will occur in Bengal by which one can divide and rule,” she stated.
“See the scenario in Bangladesh. This (Waqf Invoice) ought to haven’t been handed now,” Ms Banerjee stated.
The Waqf (Modification) Invoice was handed by the Lok Sabha, the place the BJD has no member, on Thursday, and by the Rajya Sabha within the early hours of Friday after marathon debates in each Homes of Parliament.
President Droupadi Murmu gave her assent to the Invoice on Saturday.
