Senior Congress leader and former Madhya Pradesh CM Kamal Nath said that he welcomed the construction of Ram temple, but added that Ram temple gates were opened by Rajiv Gandhi in 1985.
Kamal Nath said, “I have in a public statement said I welcome the construction of Ram temple. I have said this is what the country wants and is only in a country like in India where we can have such consensus on this by the people of India. We must not forget that the Ram temple gates were opened by Rajiv Gandhi in 1985. It was he who opened it. In 1989, there was a kind of bhoomi pujan done. In 1989, he started his campaign by saying that we are going to have Ram rajya in India.”
