The Nationwide Fee for Girls (NCW) has written to the Meghalaya Chief Secretary over the loss of life of 877 newborns and 61 pregnant ladies within the state within the final 4 months.
Since April, no less than 61 pregnant ladies and 877 new child infants have died in Meghalaya after being denied admission in hospitals and due to lack of medical consideration because of diversion of the well being equipment to battle the coronavirus pandemic, a senior well being division official stated.
The deaths of the newborns have been because of lack of medical consideration and care, pneumonia and delivery asphyxia, Director of Well being Companies Aman Conflict stated.
NCW Chairperson Rekha Sharma, within the letter to Meghalaya Chief Secretary MS Rao, stated the fatalities have been a matter of significant concern.
“It’s a matter of significant concern and the Fee has taken observe of the lapse by the hospital on the time when the federal government of India is emphasising for implementation of institutional supply mechanism throughout the nation,” Ms Sharma stated within the letter.
