Leopard Spends 5 Hours With Head Stuck In Metal Pot, Rescued Later In Maharashtra

Dhule, Maharashtra:

A male leopard had its head caught in a metallic pot for 5 hours in a village in Dhule district of Maharashtra.

The frightened massive cat struggled unsuccessfully for 5 hours to wriggle out of hassle earlier than forest officers tranquilised it and sawed the pot off its head, Vary Forest Officer Savita Sonawane informed ANI on Sunday.

“A male leopard spent 5 hours with its head caught in a metallic vessel in a village in Dhule district. It was later rescued by the Forest division,” she stated.

There are an estimated 13,874 leopards in India, up from 12,852 in 2018, in response to the ‘Standing of Leopards in India, 2022’ report, launched by the Union Atmosphere Ministry on February 29.

Based on a report made public by the Atmosphere Ministry, the depend of leopards within the nation rose by 8 per cent from 12,852 in 2018 to 13,874 in 2022.

Whereas the best variety of leopards have been reported in Madhya Pradesh (3,907), solely three different states reported over 1,000 animals each–Maharashtra (1,985), Karnataka (1,879) and Tamil Nadu (1,070). Whereas Uttarakhand reported a 22 per cent decline within the massive cat numbers– reportedly on account of poaching and man-animal battle, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and West Bengal noticed a collective 150 per cent rise to 349 animals.
