Dineshwar Sharma, the Administrator Of Lakshadweep and former interlocutor of the Centre to Jammu and Kashmir, has died. Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted to condole his loss of life and stated Mr Sharma made “lengthy lasting contributions to India’s policing and safety equipment”.
“Administrator of Lakshadweep Shri Dineshwar Sharma Ji made lengthy lasting contributions to India’s policing and safety equipment. He dealt with many delicate counter terror and insurgency ops throughout his policing profession. Anguished by his demise. Condolences to his household. Om Shanti,” he tweeted.

Mr Sharma, a retired Kerala-cadre Indian Police Service officer, was appointed because the interlocutor of the Centre to Jammu and Kashmir in 2017. He held common talks with the stakeholders, selling peace within the Kashmir valley till 2019, when the central authorities revoked the particular standing to Jammu and Kashmir and divided the state into two union territories.
Rival-turned-allies, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti, who remained detained for months after the Centre’s strikes in Jammu and Kashmir, provided tributes to the previous officer.
“Shocked & saddened by the sudden demise of Dineshwar Sharma ji. He was an intensive gentleman & as an interlocutor tried his greatest to revive bridges of belief & goodwill between individuals of J&Ok & remainder of the nation,” Ms Mufti tweeted.

Mr Sharma was the Director Of Intelligence Bureau when he retired in 2017. He was identified for his position in counter-insurgency operations in Jammu and Kashmir and the north-eastern states.
